Many carriers struggle with capacity problems in the holiday season. This may result in carriers refusing evening deliveries, same day deliveries, etc (in some regions). Are you prepared for this with your logistics, IT and customer service? A few examples of how you can respond to these problems:
Have your customer service consult with the customer:
- select a new date, or a daytime delivery (not evening)
- select a different carrier
- select another delivery address
You can choose not to consult with the customer, but make a decision yourself:
- select a daytime delivery
- select a new date
- select a different carrier
- select a new time / date / carrier and add a 'costcenter' so Transsmart can send your customers a personalized e-mail with a reason of this change and you apologies.
Delivery times may also have changed in this season. Carrier DHL sent its customers a Q4 schedule in which you can see what the delivery around the holidays looks like. Make sure you are aware of the holiday schedules of your carriers, so that both you and your customers can experience a flawless Christmas!
