Carriers: the busy holiday season & delivery times

Many carriers struggle with capacity problems in the holiday season. This may result in carriers refusing evening deliveries, same day deliveries, etc (in some regions). Are you prepared for this with your logistics, IT and customer service? A few examples of how you can respond to these problems:

Have your customer service consult with the customer:
- select a new date, or a daytime delivery (not evening)
- select a different carrier
- select another delivery address
- etc.

You can choose not to consult with the customer, but make a decision yourself:
- select a daytime delivery
- select a new date
- select a different carrier
- select a new time / date / carrier and add a 'costcenter' so Transsmart can send your customers a personalized e-mail with a reason of this change and you apologies.

Delivery times may also have changed in this season. Carrier DHL sent its customers a Q4 schedule in which you can see what the delivery around the holidays looks like. Make sure you are aware of the holiday schedules of your carriers, so that both you and your customers can experience a flawless Christmas!

Opening hours Transsmart around the holidays

Transsmart can be reached monday-friday from 08:30 - 17:30, with the exception of a few days. Transsmart is closed on:

  • December 25, 2017 (Christmas day)
  • December 26, 2017 (Boxing day / Second Christmas day)
  • January 1, 2018 (New Year's day)

Will you be working these days and would you like to be able to reach us in case of calamities? To support you in the best way possible, you can make use of our temporary additional support service. With this service you can reach us outside of office hours (24/7 if desired) in case of calamities. This way we help you to get the orders out correctly and quickly. Interested? New colleague: Paul Diepenhorst

A new colleague has started at Transsmart. After working at several internationally operating logistics service providers for the past 6 years Paul has decided to start a new challenge at Transsmart. Paul has been added to the Operations team as a new consultant. His years of experience within logistics will serve both him and our customers well. We wish Paul a lot of success in his new role!


The ICT & Logistiek fair was a great succes!

A big 'thank you' to our IMCC partners (Slimstock, Buck Consultants, HSO, IDS, MPO, Sana Commerce & St. Onge) and of course to the visitors of our stand and presentations.

Our highlight this year was the announcement of our strategic partnership with Sana Commerce! The aim is to develop a B2B e-commerce platform, including connections for shipping options, pick-up locations and calculation of shipping costs.



New shipping tariffs in 2018? Pass them on to us!

Do you use our rate forecast? Are you using the option to gain insight into shipping costs before you make a booking? Or aren't you using these options yet, but would you like to start using them?
Many of you will evaluate the carrier contracts at the start of the new year, which might result in a change of tariffs. Please provide us with your new rates in time, so we can implement the changes and you can get started with your new 2018 tariffs quickly!

TNT France is the local subsidiary of the global carrier TNT Express. The services and network which TNT provides internationally is also available for this locally operating carrier in France. TNT France offers flexible delivery options to home, work, TNT depots or ParcelShops for domestically shipped parcels.
